What are PLYLOX™ Hurricane Window Clips?

PLYLOX™ window clips are the ingenious, inexpensive, non-destructive way to protect your windows from high winds and airborne debris. Installed in seconds, PLYLOX™ window clips slide onto the edge of a 1/2" plywood sheet which is then easily inserted into the exterior window casings of your home or business. They are patented h-shaped carbon steel clips engineered to fit 1/2" plywood without nails, screws or adhesives. There is no longer any need to drill holes in brick in order to protect your windows from storm damage. After protecting your home or business from high winds and flying debris, the plywood can be removed in seconds without tools.

How do PLYLOX™ Hurricane Window Clips work?

Head-on gusts of wind will hold covers in place no matter how they are mounted. But wind blowing across the face of the plywood generates lift that can pull the cover out of the casing. PLYLOX™ window clips transfer the outward force of the lift through their tension legs. This transfer of energy forces the clip against the casing and holds the cover securely in place in the worst possible conditions.

How are PLYLOX™ Hurricane Window Clips installed?

1.  Measure each window casing, work left-to-right, floor-by-floor. The recorded height should be the measured height from top to bottom of the casing minus 1/4". The recorded width should be the measured width from side to side of the casing minus 1/4". This will give 1/8" clearance all the way around.

2.  Cut 1/2" plywood to the recorded size of each window.

3.  Place the PLYLOX™ clips on each plywood cover (if the window is 24"x24" or smaller, only two PLYLOX™ clips are needed). Each clip should be placed on the edge of the plywood cover no more than 24 inches apart. Make sure the tension legs are facing towards you.

4.  Push the plywood covers with the PLYLOX™ tension legs to the outside firmly into the casing.

5.  PLYLOX™ works as well in round windows as they do in rectangular windows. You can adjust the number of PLYLOX™ clips used to account for different shapes and sizes of windows.

How are PLYLOX™ Hurricane Window Clips removed?

1.  Press in on the plywood. Put you finger behind the tension leg and pull the tension leg towards you. Work with the PLYLOX™ clips on one side of the plywood sheet (a screwdriver can help).

2.  As the tension legs are pulled away from the brick the plywood sheet comes right out. Carefully remove the plywood sheet from the window. For large sheets of plywood you may need a helper.

3.  Remove PLYLOX™ clips from plywood and store in a dry place.
