How to Insulate Windows and Doors

Stop those drafts in their tracks! Window and door insulator kits are easy to install and save winter heating costs!

 

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Gather needed tools. Clean molding with water and wipe with rubbing alcohol. Allow to dry.

  • Start tape by lifting colored tab.

  • Apply as shown (A or B), dispensing tape with the printed paper liner facing out.

  • Press tape firmly to surface.

  • Unfold film, trim excess allowing 1" extra on all sides.

  • Remove paper line from tape.

  • Apply film to tape. Reposition and stretch film to remove wrinkles.

  • Press firmly to tape.

  • Remove remaining wrinkles with a blow dryer, starting at corner. Do not touch film with dryer. Trim excess.

INSTALLATION W/MINI BLINDS

  • Read "Installation Instructions" first.

  • Apply tape to window molding.

  • Lightly tack film over blind edges of window frame for position only.

  • Mark on film where rod and drawstring attach to blind.

  • Remove film and reinforce marks with tape to prevent tearing.

  • Cut small holes at each reinforced mark.

  • Put rod and drawstring through film and slide film back in place.

  • Continue following "Installation Instructions".

NOTES FOR USE:

For indoor use only. Apply tape to painted or varnished wood, aluminum or vinyl-clad molding. Do not apply to veneer paneling or luaun mahogany molding. Tape may lift off previously damaged, cracked or peeling coatings when removed. Remove film and tape at end of the heating season.
